When severe tooth pain or another dental problem arises, you may need immediate care. At Cantrell Family Dentistry, we offer emergency family dentistry to Wylie and surrounding communities. For those times when you need dental care most, we want you to know that you can turn to Cantrell Family Dentistry.
What types of dental emergency do we treat at Cantrell Family Dentistry? We encourage you to give us a call as soon as any of the following occurs:
Children are at a high risk of dental injury because they’re so active and accident prone. When your child experiences a dental emergency, Dr. Sarah can provide children’s emergency dentistry. Should your little one slip and fall, chipping or even knocking out a tooth, call our office as soon as it occurs and let us know you’re coming; some specific instructions may need to be given over the phone. Make sure to retrieve the knocked-out piece of tooth if at all possible; if the whole permanent tooth has been knocked out, we may be able to save it if it is brought to us in time. The faster you act, the better your chances of saving the tooth. Don’t scrub or clean away any tissue that clings to the tooth, but do gently rinse away dirt with cool water only. If possible, replace the permanent tooth in the socket immediately and hold it there with clean gauze or a wash cloth. If you can't put the tooth back in the socket, place it in a glass of cold milk and bring it to the dental office immediately. "Baby" teeth cannot be re-implanted. These instructions are the same for adults, too.
A toothache can be a sign of major trouble, like the need for a root canal. Our emergency family dentistry includes toothache assessment and treatment. We will determine the cause of your toothache and provide treatment recommendations depending on the source of the pain.
A dental restoration – a filling, crown, or veneer – can loosen, break, or be lost, and when this happens, you’ll want to visit our Wylie office as soon as possible for emergency family dentistry. A lost or broken dental restoration can threaten your natural tooth, leaving it exposed to irritants and inflammatory agents that can cause disease. We’ll want to replace your dental restoration as soon as possible to reduce this risk. Lost dental restorations can also greatly diminish your ability to function, making it hard to eat and speak freely. Emergency family dentistry from Cantrell Family Dentistry can help you regain your freedom quickly and get you back to normal once again. Make sure to save your dental restoration if you can – if your crown has simply come loose but isn’t broken, we may be able to put it back on your tooth without having to create a whole new crown, saving you both time and money.
When you need emergency family dentistry attention for either adults or children, contact Cantrell Family Dentistry.
